I have performed at a variety of venues from the Sawtooth Music Festival in Stanley, Idaho to the Lazy Hummingbird in Ocen Beach, California. I wrote my first song in 1982 and have been writing ever since. In 2020 I released a song book with 74 original songs. The very first songs were recorded on a Christmas present tape player. Someone said this was my best recording. In the late 90s I bought a 4 track from a guy in Moscow and recorded a PJ Harvey inspired album distributing it to friends only, grateful all copies have been lost to time. In 2008 I released 13 songs on a album titled One, followed by Two in 2010. They were sold, traded and given away at shows in individually hand drawn cardboard cases. Those recording were all rough draft at best.
I used to play with lead guitarist John Firshi but currently plays solo gigs.
A 5 song EP was recorded in Sandpoint, Idaho in 2017 with Jacob Robin and followed up with a few more recordings in early 2020 also with Jacob but the majority of my songs are unrecorded.
In the late 90s I took a dozen of my drawings to Book People in Moscow hoping to sell them. I printed them up into ten coloring books titled Prodigal Daughter. I brought them to Peter, one of the owners, who' when I first arrived in town played me a whole bunch of Emmy Lou Harris on his radio show as well as sharing a story about how she connected with Graham Parsons. I was back in town after a trip around the west in need of money but the idea of a coloring book in my particular art style hadn't quite hit yet. He couldn't give me cash, but he traded me a Townes Van Zandt CD for them. Since I'd never heard Townes Van Zandt before it was defiitely a deal in my favor.
The version with just the songs and pictures is currently available for pre-order.
If you're interested in a copy email firstname.lastname@example.org with subject line Song Book.
Book One, which includes the first half of the songs along with memoir style stories and snapshots will be available in early 2021.
I have another 4 track but I don't know how to use it any better than the one I had back in the day. I've let three albums slip away in the past decade but am gearing up to record a real one this year: Greatest hits of an unknown artist.
If you've got extra and feel like giving something in support of my art and music click the button below and know you have my deepest gratitude. Thank you <3
I've been influenced by everything I've ever heard since I first heard anything but I'm such a slow learner and poor student of music so have a long way to go to reach the sound I want. My dad brought me home a transistor radio when I was 6. I put it under my pillow and listened in the night. Oldies out of radio stations in Mexico. The radio, the record store and later Friday night videos at the pizza place and eventually MTV. Yard sales and thrift stores are where I scored some of the best albums, some pretty sweet clothes too.
And then there were concerts.
Eventually I'll revist this page and add links and stories about musicians I've been influenced by. People I've opened for and those I look forward to opening for and/or working with. Someday.
